Your State Board of Accountancy has final authority on setting standards for acceptable CPE for CPA's. It is your responsibility to confirm the CPE standards required by your State Accounting Board.
Most State Accountancy Boards do not require CPE sponsor registration with NASBA's National Registry. Those states which do require sponsorship from a state board or NASBA are noted below. 1st Choice CPE has chosen not to become a registered sponsor with NASBA, however our CPE courses have been developed in accordance with many of NASBA Standards for CPE Program Sponsors.
Most State Boards of Accountancy accept CPE from formal self-study programs which contribute to professional competence in the practice of public accounting. Additional state board requirements may include:
-A record of registration is maintained by the sponsor.
-A certificate of completion is provided.
-The program is at least 1 CPE hours in length (50 minutes).
-The program is conducted and/or written by qualified personel.
1st Choice CPE meets all of the above requirements, and therefore CPE should be accepted in states which do not specifically require sponsorship agreements. Please note that some states may limit the amount of CPE which can be earned through self-study programs.
